Klik were commissioned by a combination of the John Peel Arts Centre, Arts Council and BBC to design & build the online John Peel museum and record collection. The project is running from May to October 2012.

Even Gizmodo say "The New Website For John Peel’s Legendary Record Collection Is Incredible" and "we're in love with the catalog's easy-browse design."

This paid-for web-application is fast becoming the UK standard for schools who wish to really understand their data.
Originally a Klik product, it's rapid growth (doubling in size year-on-year) led us to spin it out into it's own business and offices - although Klik staff still provide the majority of the technical skills for support and development.
Thousands of teachers across the country (and abroad) use it daily to track literally millions of pupil results, and get a simple yet powerful view of the performance of their whole school, specific cohort groups and individual pupils. Powerful stuff.
The biggest technical challenge was making the highly visual suite of interactive analysis tools compatible with the types of browsers found in many primary schools. As any developer will tell you, creating complex visuals that work on IE7 as well as an iPad is no mean feat! DOM manipulation, jQuery and SVG feature widely due to their robust support across platforms - it's amazing what you can do if you try!
If you know a school in the UK that needs a better understanding of their data they will appreciate you directing them to our free 30 day trial!

The story of Vapestick has been a fast and incredibly successful one. Klik were approached after the company quickly outgrew their original Wordpress based site. As the phenomenon of electronic cigarettes started to catch, Vapestick emerged as something of a premium class leader and they needed a robust, hugely optimised site to both drive sales from the web and maintain a presence in keeping with their ever strengthening brand.
Technically, the site is driven via our choColate CMS with a custom back-end product database, which models the myriad compatibility complexities of their ever expanding range of products. This integrates with their SAGE fulfilment system, automatically generating ledger entries and triggering their picker processes - ensuring the transition from web to post is smooth, fast and efficient.
Vapestick are now the prefered provider of electronic cigarettes for TESCO, Harrods and a whole host of others. Do you smoke? Have you tried one? We think you will be as surprised as we were...

The international logistics company approached us in early 2012 to both rebrand their business and design & construct a dynamic web-site.
This is a good example of a small but effective and quick to deliver site that includes both our lead designer Mike Howes' skills in terms of branding and layout, and the simplicity of implementing the choColate CMS - allowing them to keep their key features up-to-date without stacks of technical knowledge.
The few visual sprinkles were achieved without the use of Flash - backwards compatible javascript transitions and transparent PNGs produce the "shine" effect on the large rollovers, and the set of international clocks are SVG - downgrading to VML for IE.

Art 18|21 approached Klik before they even opened to provide both a design language for the gallery (logo, colours, etc) and a web-site that could showcase pictures, artists and exhibitions.
That site, largely unchanged since 2007, is the one you see still going strong today - such is the versatility and robustness of our choColate CMS back-end.

Foreign exchange traders Alpha FX used Klik to spice up their web-site and provide the tech to hook in live market exchange rates.
Klik also developed the Alpha FX desktop application, which their clients use for up-to-the-second market information.
The web side uses jQuery / JSON to communicate with a PHP API we constructed to handle web and app comms, itself communicating via server-side CURL to market data.
The app was built using Adobe AIR / (CS5 with ActionScript 3) making it as portable as possible.

Klik built the Telegraph's popular fuel efficiency web-app sponsored by Peugeot.
The interactive advert uses a purely javascript/DOM front-end to pull current vehicle model information from a PHP/MySQL back-end API, via jQuery calls using JSON datastructures.
The Google Maps API was integrated to acurately calculate road distance travelled between two points.
Back in 2009 we built another game video for a Vodaphone / MTV competition winner
The 3.5 minutes of Flash-based mayhem takes a journey through the history of computer games with playable versions of PONG, Snake and R-Type fitting in with the theme of the song: growing up playing video games.
The game was a hit on web-game portals Newgrounds & Kongregate - an interesting alternative way to promote new music.

The Space is an Arts Council / BBC jointly produced project to provide a new way to experience the arts for free. It's a grand ambition, and Klik are proud to have been responsible for building the two most popular projects featured: The Arena Hotel and the The John Peel Archive.
The brief was to allow these two amazing archives to be explored in a more organic way than standard web-site menu structures and page concepts traditionally allow.
These web apps have been widely acclaimed across the arts and tech communities - prime examples of the bespoke web applications we love to build.
